Reconstruction often appears as the halfway point in two-year chronological US history classes. Standards will also often combine the Civil War and Reconstruction into one unit. The fact that this revolution was cut short gives so much context for where we are today. These issues that people grappled with at the time are among the most pressing issues of today.
