The Myth of Free Will

Free will is an idea and to some degree a myth that is very valuable in our personal lives. A sense of free will, oh, I am the captain of my fate, is not great for somebody who grew up in inner city or poverty. When we are punishing someone it's hard to unwire the notion that criminal behavior comes from abnormally damaged brains. It would be in a good direction if all of us thought of ourselves as having free will and thus responsible for our behaviors.
