The Conditions in Prisons During the Pandemic
In may 20, sixteenth u p l c entered into a settlement agreement with the illinois department of corrections to completely re mamp the way people with serious mental illnesses are treated in illinois prisons. But even under the scrutiny of a federal monitor, the state has failed to meet its obligations. Among other infractions, ido has not conducted an analysis of what staff is necessary to address the blems identified in the settlement agreement. I think we should all feel challenged by that. In a death making institution where visible acts of solidarity are punishable offences, the formation of a social support system is a rebellious act.
