The Light of Men

In John 1, 4. God gave us eternal life and this life is in his Son. Whoever does not have the Son does not have life. He's dead. So everybody's dead until they have Jesus. Vital Union with Jesus is everything. If you're united to Jesus, you have what he has. And if you're not, you don't. You're dead.
