How Long Should a Progress Note Take for a Session?

A session note takes about 10 minutes, a little more, a little less depending on how complicated the session seemed to be. Sometimes it's really about identifying feelings and strategizing solutions. And then you kind of have the homework that the client will do X, Y and Z because you just strategize solutions. Those are really fast progress notes to write. But when you have a clients who comes in with a more complicated presentation, they can take 10 minutes, they might take 12 minutes. So you know, you got to plan it into your time for clinicians who are listening.
