The Importance of Understanding Someone's Language
A developer doesn't need to necessarily understand exactly how you go about applying different styling to a particular component in, say, sketch or something like that. I would want a developer to know the general content structure and content architecture of the content behind the design. That's where we want to get to. If the relationship is one of shared understanding and shared language, then drawing interfaces can actually work really well because it's just a mechanism by which you communicate intent.
