Hiding the truth to be loved is a sign of maybe some emotional problems that you maybe should look at because it's a bad idea. It doesn't mean you have to be hard. You can be truthful and kind and soft. If you're dealing with an enemy, someone who's trying to harm you or hates you, then you can be really hard and mean the way you say the truth.
