Between Ideals and Conformity

This chapter examines the mindset of individuals under oppressive regimes, focusing on Poland's historical context and the transformation of the Solidarity movement post-1989. It reveals how the initial aspirations for dignity and cultural integrity were compromised in the pursuit of a minimalist approach to Western liberal democracy, leading to a loss of identity and social ambitions.
