Area 51 is a highly classified United States Air Force facility, commonly known as Groom Lake or Homey Airport. It resides within a 4,531 square mile plot of land called the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), which is also part of Nellis Air Force Base. Salt flats act as perfect natural runways for test flights and emergency landings alike due to their incredible size and flat grade. Area 51 currently operates as a remote detachment of California's Edwards Air Force Base but could be expanded in the future.
