When Was Email Invented?

In 19 71, the sky name ray talmanson is generally credited with inventing net work. Throughout the seventies and eighties, it was really something that was used essentially people who were interested in tec but then also people who worked for the military. But i don't think that it really caught on in any meaningful way outside of those parometers until the development of awell.
