The Pyramid Shape of Autism Intervention

When it comes to the types of social deficits that go along with autism, I always think of autism intervention as having a kind of pyramid shape. The most proven intervention for kids with social delays is ongoing behavioral intervention and we want to keep coming back to that. For ADHD, we again can start with those behavioral supports. So one of the things to recognize when children are showing symptoms of both is you might not even have a true sense of what someone's social abilities are until you've started to really intervene for their ADHD.
