The Importance of Scripting

In the early days of programming, people were just trying to solve their problems in procedural languages such as Fortran and Cobol. The concept of developer experience wasn't there for many programmers at that time. In scripting mode, you're not trying to create reusable components other than within your application, when you're forced to. It's almost like taking whatever you can to put it together to get it working.
