There are patients who respond to sodium restriction and there are patients who do not. Patients who are salt-sensitive tend to be more responsive to diuretic therapy because of its ability to assist with sodium excretion. There are some theories that that's part of why black patients, for example, respond better to diuretics based on all-hat. They respond better to thiazide compared to asymptomatic ARBs.
