What's the Definition of a Recession?
The second quarter us. J d p dotaa, that is now out, will tell us whether the U.S. has been contracting for two consecutive quarters. The national bureau of economic research actually comes up with their own definition and it does include a number of other factors beyond just the j p data. In fact, they don't even include the j p date in their calculation, which is kind of interesting, really.
