The Neurotic's Regressive Cycle
The neurotic rather than deal with not knowing what the other wants, issue a demand. The action is found inscribed as a relation at the far limit of demand's regressive cycle. When you get to the bottom of that barrel, Lacan says on page 53, the only thing left for the other to demand of you is a signal of your own castration.
