There was no path to a general election, of course, because the Conservatives have a very big majority. Liz Truss could have asked the king to dissolve Parliament, but she didn't. So I felt it was much better that the MPs actually did unite around one person. That will give Sunak more credibility and more legitimacy in Parliament than Liz Truss had. Do you feel that stability, at this point, matters more perhaps than full-throated legitimacy in a democratic sense?
