The Defensive General - When to Retain and When Not to Fight
A good general knows when to fight, but when not to fight and when to retreat. Wellington never has to fight a napoleon style battle. And that's part of the reason why his military record perhaps isn't as exciting in some instances as napoleon's is. He will strike when he sees the opportunity, provided that opportunity presents the maximum advantage.
