Sincerity is certainly one of his cardinal features. He was absolutely sincere in what he believed, and he did try to put it into practice - which caused him considerable grief over the years. And yes, i miansin all the way through. At first with his aesthetic outlook and cult of beauty, and later on with orthodoxy.
