The Laws of Numbers Are Not Written for an Ideal World
There is this balance when it comes to the life of the people of Israel. While men and women are created equal in their dignity, equally made in God's image and likeness, oftentimes because of the fall, there is this sense of what we don't like. The law here isn't because that's the perfect thing or that's the way it ought to be. It's describing that's how life is in a broken world.
