Optimizing for Carbon Intensity
When we use the word performance though it has a broad meaning so sometimes you can talk about performance like well i want my code to run faster. Carbon intensity will become at least the way that you can incorporate nowadays is like a cross-functional requirement or a non-functional requirement. It's something that you are aware of and you are aware during the lifetime of your software if you're doing certain changes how that carbon intensity is varying. You might not always optimize for it because sometimes it doesn't make business sense your application will not run if you don't use certain technologies.
