Everybody holds out the hope that they're going to find one great opportunity and that's going to make them rich or richer. You can make a lot of money just by not making a lot of istakes, so go for reasonable rates of return. Don't try to be something you're not; don't bet the odds on becoming an investor at 50 years old. Be realistic with your expectations.
