I agree with william here about the sort of classic, i think classic sort of philosophical response have been like, oh, conditions of possibility. I was thinking about this a lot om recently going through book one, in no small part because iwas trying to figure out why the socrates response is to exactly the question that gill asks. Why shouldn't we just think it's just a matter of who makes the decision, and therefore who sets the convention? And then if we start asking what are the minae ends of the tyrant, we're back into this picture of art that socrates has been trying to impress upon us," he says.
