Anoka: Why did you want to explore an intergenerational relationship which skips the generation so in this case between a grandmother and a grandson? kiran bermingham: I think it has to do with the fact that these two people are on kind of different different sides of life. Anoka we've got another question about the family in the book which picks up on something you've just been saying. It's very common in real life that grand children and grandparents have very intense relationships but it's not so frequent in fiction, she says.
