What Are the Gnostics?
Gnostic sectsa claimd that they had the true knowledge throughnos. They appealed, i think, more tointellectuals. I think an intellectual end of the spectrum. But they claimed that they were the true christians. The light of their knowledge, and in the light of their initiation into the gnostic sacraments of baptism and chrismatian, they felt they had in which the spirit had descended on them. And they were. At first quite small groups. But they did certainly expand, particularly in the third century, into the duallist heresy of manarcheism. It did seem to represent a kind of gnostic religion.
