The Chinese Security Surveillance State

A series of seemingly organic protests across the breadth of China. In some areas, it's been around ethnicities, like minorities, like the Uyghurs. You've also had more traditional leftists protesting in certain places. And then just ordinary people protesting as well, sort of local areas. A lot of the Chinese security surveillance state was really built up as an insulation against what China saw happening in the Arab Spring in 2011. But it shows you that an Arab Spring moment can happen.
