The Importance of Existential Risk

Technology has given us a kind of leverage over our future for good and for bad that we didn't have a hundred years ago right. The 20th century introduced for the first time I would say the possibility we could extinguish ourselves. We really ought to think about how we can minimize these risks and what we would do if they happened. If we can reduce the probability of any of these things by one part in a thousand then the stakes are so high that we live more than we are going to keep.
