i think the 19 fifties for that generation of women was a decade of possibilities, because they had access to education. They did mad things like once take a tongua from batner to benares on a whim. These were women who just taught themselves how to tailor. I don't know whether you've ever seen nosinet, you've seen those magazines? i think many of our mothers of that generation were subscribers. She'd resisted wearing a sarry right up until she, you know, was 20. And she didn't actually rush into marriage, unlike one of her sisters, but she decided that it was a bit of a bore too.
