Many o b g i n doctors moved into hospitals where they had a lot more oversight. Hospital administrators were worried about violating state laws and getting sued. Formed abortion review committees that would review whether an abortion was medically justified or not. They made it really hard for a woman's abortion request to get approved. Women are subject to multiple exams, usually by both psychiatrists, obstitricians, and then often three other physicians.
