"I've always taken issue with Jesus's sacrifice in that, I mean, it's often caricatures," he says. "If humans are so depraved that they deserve separation from God, then for Jesus to truly pay that price on our behalf, would he not have to be in hell?" He adds: "We don't think Jesus isn't hell if we're going to be Christians."
