Rural Politics - It's Not All About the Farmers
Rural areas of the country are more likely to vote Tory than Labour or Libdems. The government's farm policy is not popular with farmers, who make up 85% of all businesses in rural areas. It could be that a tory strategist thinks about keeping blue wall constituencies like cornwall and cumbry as well as looking after towns and cities. But if you're from garnet, your traditional territory, it doesn't matter at this stage.
