Brink: In some ways I think the right analogy to Poliani is Heim and Minsky. You summarize the messages of Hayek on the one hand as the market take it away, blessed be the name of the market. The distorted Poliani message also was not sustainable and in fact led to hideous tyrannies in the early 20th century. Brink: There's actually bizarre that anyone would think that you could centrally plan an economy as a whole. And yet people tried it for 60 years to run a centrally planned economy.
