Is There a Founding Pair?
Sceptics will say there couldn't be a founding pair, because mutation rates far in excess of what we observe for ananimal. One possibility is that both neanderthals and homo sapiens are heirs to the cognitive capacity for modern behaviours already present in an ancestor. If whatever manks us human hunitedly originated once or twice, ever on, carrying that feature, is going to be a descendant of those originators. Even if there was iny breeding, it would be just like the red haired case, although presumably there's going to be more geans in bulk.
