The Protracted Strike of Larry Itlyong

In 1965, farm workers in Delano, California went on strike against some of the country's largest agricultural growers. This joint action would become known as the Delano Grape Strike and launch a national movement with Caesar Chavez at its center. The strike was timed to coincide with the end of the Coachella Valley growing season so that it wouldn't ruin the grape harvest. Itlyong reached out to another newer union, the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) To ensure that Delano's many Mexican American workers also joined the strike, he reached out to Aewok for help.
