Do You Have Any Myths About Retrieval Practice?
The myth that novices and experts learn about science in the same way is a myth, he says. The idea of you only remember 10% of what you hear was used as evidence we shouldn't have to teach teacher talk with stopwatches or anything like that. We don't want to just look at one study in isolation, because there's been loads of studies conducted in this area - they all add together. And so using direct instruction for good body of scientific knowledge would then lead us towards better teaching methods.
