The Black Radical History of Demar VC
Demar VC was a Free black man who was formerly enslaved from Charleston, South Carolina. In 1822 in Charleston he attempted to lead a slave revolt of many enslaved people throughout the low-country area and surrounding plantations. The plan was eventually betrayed and VC was captured and executed alongside several of his co-conspirators. We see VC's memory throughout time as part of this sort of pantheon of black heroes.
