The Importance of Antitrust Legislation
In South Africa, mobile phones and electricity generation have grown side by side. One of which has been enormously successful and unregulated largely. The other one has been enormously unsuccessful and it's mostly regulated. We need antitrust legislation but we don't need monopolies that disintegrate in the next five years. Bad interventions can lead to very poor outcomes rather than what you initially wanted.
