Zachariah's Fast of the Fifth and Seventh Month
The people of bethel, owever, were unsure whether they should continue the fast of the fifth month. The temple would be completed in five 16 b c, 70 years after its first destruction. In isaiah, chapter 58, verses three to five, we find another example of the prophetic questioning of the practice of fasting that has bad motives or is otherwise unpleasing to god.
