The Importance of Emphasis in Semitic Languages
In the Semitic languages, pharyngealized consonants are often called emphatics. So if you're doing a Semitic con-ling or a Semitic bo-go-ling, start with a proto-Semitic and then run it through the same sound changes that Cinderin went through,. Otherwise, please don't. That's kind of like my stance on apostrophes for non-phonetic reasons. I was starting to wish we didn't have an apostrophe in English. What does it do? Nothing. There's a lot more to what people call emphasis than the phonological aspect.
