The idea being, if you're going to beat me at my best, I want you to do it with your best. Even the people who do agree on the rules don't agree on the parameters per set. There is some kind of valorization sometimes with a little bit of distance and time of the rascal. Don Drysdale was also famous for loading up the ball in 1968.
