The CIA Was Not Naive to the Conditions in Which Dostom Held His Captured Prisoners
The CIA wasn't naive to the inhumane conditions in which Dostom held his captives. These men were regularly beaten, sometimes to the point of disfigurement. One round of questioning ended early because the stench of a prisoner's wounds was too overpowering for the men to endure. As he spoke with the prisoners, David began to recognize them for what they were.
