Justinian was a Balkan peasant turned soldier who became Emperor after Anastasia's death. His firmly held Orthodox beliefs led him to restore communion with Rome, and persecute those Eastern Monophysites he could get his hands on. The next few podcasts are all going to feature fairly detailed introductions to the characters who will inhabit Justinian's court.
