How to Sign a Certificate for Your App
Self-signing is kind of useful for things like open source tools or internal tools. Or anytime when either you don't care that much about security warnings being shown to the users. If you self-sign, then the download HTML page generates will change and it becomes a bit less simple. On Windows, it will install the certificate for you so that you are then considered a trusted certificate authority in effect for the purposes of your own app.
