The Utopia of Justice
Every single person has a pretty good idea about the content of justice. And if that's right, utopian thinking might not be unreasonable either. Because if we can define justice to everybody's satisfaction, then we can implement it. That's where utopian thinking comes from. I've been doing this for years. It's not hard. Even though you can't define justice to anyone's satisfaction, and I could poke a hole right in the middle of any definition of justice that anybody gave. But I'm actually kind of cool with that. So now we've got something to work with.
