Antiquities Theft in the Middle East

In 2010, Hobby Lobby President Steve Green visited the United Arab Emirates with an antiquities consultant. Since 1990, cultural objects from Iraq carry special import restrictions that include criminal penalties. Between 200 and 500,000 objects have been looted from archaeological sites in Iraq alone. ISIS's Department of Natural Resources, Antiquities Division charged a 20% tax on salable antiquities.
