The Importance of Simple Tools Over Complex Tools

I generally prefer simpler tools over complex tools. I don't want to end up getting caught up and held hostage to the ecosystem of one app for writing because the writing is so foundationally important that I need to be able to switch my tools if something happens. And this is a thing that has paid off tremendously. Like the number of times I have switched Dropbox enabled, markdown editors is large oftenbecause they just stop being developed or there's a change in a feature that bothers me then I can switch to something else.
