The Role of Random Drift in Moral Progress

I think what's interesting is that you can have a combination of both. There are some values that are consistent and produce certain outcomes fairly reliably. And to the extent that values may not, what we call as moral progress may also just be value drifting. I do think that open societies tend to function better in solving problems when I close societies. Letting people actually control their lives tends to make people happier than having so outside force trying to optimize their lives for them.
