The windover pond site is one of the biggest and most preserved prehistoric burial sites that has ever been found anywhere in the world. To day, it's simply left by the side of a road, surrounded by dense woods and thickets, with no public access or visibility. Just like when steve vanderjack first discovered it, there was nothing to give it away as a world historic, important archaeological site. But if it had not been for vanderjact and for jim swan and their persistence, the site might have been completely ignored and then built over.
