The Conquest of Ireland by the English

The english tried to colonize ireland from the 15 fifties onwards. The first ones weren't very successful, but this colonization process would go on to be very important in irish history as we'll get to eventually. Mary established martial governments where the military rulers were able to execute people without trial. These were very common. A resistance was wide spread. But it wasn't as effective as it could have been. It galvanizede the support for resistancen increased the fervor of those who were fighting off the english.
