The New Forest Cover
There's been a cover in the new forest since at least the 1930s. Gerald Gardner claimed he was admitted to the new forest back in 1938. He says he took part in a ritual there that successfully halted the German advance through Europe. Dr Eleanor Peck is a lecturer in early modern history and author of several books on the history of witchcraft in Britain and Europe. When I mentioned Joseph Kerwin's name, she invited me to her home down in Sussex.
