The Purpose of Religion

The purpose of religion is to get spiritualize, to divinate our passions. When it's doing its job well, it channels that into stable long-term relationships. It understands you might have these artistic creative instincts and so it will channel that when it has enough power into you participating in the artistic project or making great art for the culture and the community around you. This is very, very smart. It channels your passions, it channels your urges. And this is essentially eugenic, it essentially makes the culture better over time.
